On January 19, 2026, as the first major international art exhibition to land in Sanya in the first year of the border closure, the two-month-long "Dialogo Trascendente: An International Contemporary Art Exhibition" grandly opened in Sanya CBD Cultural Relics and Art Center. Against the backdrop of the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, this international art extravaganza is an important initiative by the Sanya Central Business District to create a new highland for the cultural and artistic industries.

"The other shore" is not a distant destination, but a way of seeing the world.
This exhibition brings together 28 international artists from 11 countries in Asia, Europe, and the Americas, showcasing over 170 contemporary artworks spanning various media including painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital art, making their debut in China. Diverse cultural backgrounds from Sweden, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Ukraine, Chile, Mexico, Honduras, and Vietnam are juxtaposed, intersected, and resonated within the same space.
Creations from different regions and contexts meet here—some works point to individual experiences and inner emotions, while others respond to the structure of the times and cultural memories; some continue the contemporary translation of traditional techniques, while others unfold experimental expressions through new media.
The exhibition does not attempt to provide a single answer, but rather invites viewers into an ongoing, multi-voiced artistic dialogue.
Using "trend" as a clue
The exhibition space is planned using "tide" as a metaphor. Building upon the structure of the two main exhibition areas, five clear and progressive thematic threads extend: "The Image of Movement," "The Quality of Stillness," "The Lineage of Ancient Origins," "The Realm of Profound Depth," and "The Power of Ascension."
The exhibition uses innovative installations such as "flowing boxes," combined with darkroom-style displays and rhythmic spatial transitions, to construct an art path that can be walked and perceived. The works are no longer merely objects to be viewed, but rather clues that guide viewers to move, linger, and contemplate within the space.
Through the delicate and restrained lines, the soft yet powerful colors, and the "breathing" forms, viewers will gradually enter the inner structure of the works and feel the flow of emotions and spiritual power conveyed by the art—at the intersection of tradition and modernity, and in the mutual reflection of East and West, they will gain a serene and profound aesthetic experience.
An exhibition is also a new beginning.
As an important preparatory event held by Sanya CBD Cultural Relics and Art Center before the official opening of the "China Hainan Cultural Relics and Artworks Trading Center and Hainan International Cultural Exchange Center" project, this exhibition is not only a concentrated presentation of international contemporary art, but also a practice on future models of cultural cooperation.
During the exhibition period, the AGAPHE Gallery from Spain will appear in Sanya. Representatives from several important cultural institutions and cultural circles in Spain and Latin America will also visit Sanya. Academic lectures and art salons will be held concurrently, focusing on topics such as art collecting, printmaking, and cultural industry cooperation, promoting multi-dimensional collaboration between art appreciation, academic research, and industrial development.
Here, art is not just displayed, but also discussed, exchanged, and connected.

This exhibition was guided by the National Base for International Cultural Trade (Sanya), the Sanya Central Business District Administration Bureau, the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau and the Sanya Business District Development Group Co., Ltd., organized by the Sanya Business District Cultural Investment Co., Ltd. and the Spanish gallery AGAPHE ART MANAGEMENT, and strongly supported by the Spanish Wenzhou General Chamber of Commerce and Sanya Tourism Promotion and Operation Management Co., Ltd.
In the context of global urban competition, art is no longer just an aesthetic decoration, but an important language for shaping urban character, promoting cultural understanding, and connecting international resources.
Through "Dialogo Trascendente—An International Contemporary Art Exhibition", Sanya hopes to use art as a bridge to let the world see Sanya's openness, inclusiveness, and creativity; and to gradually establish a clearer and more unique position for Sanya on the international cultural landscape.
