Sanya's first duty-free shop for daily consumer goods opens! The benefits of the Hainan Free Trade Port's customs closure policy extend to residents of the island

On February 11, the much-anticipated first duty-free shop for daily consumer goods in Sanya—the Zhuhai Duty Free Daily Consumer Goods Duty Free Shop—officially opened at No. 1, Sanya Bay. This marks the effective implementation of the "zero tariff" policy for imported goods for residents of the Hainan Free Trade Port in Sanya, bringing a brand-new consumer experience of "conveniently purchasing duty-free goods at their doorstep" to residents of the island.

The Sanya Zhuhai Duty-Free Daily Consumer Goods Shop has an operating area of 648 square meters and mainly sells daily necessities such as food and beverages, daily chemical products, and baby products, including chocolates, candies, coffee, milk powder, shampoos, and diapers. It is a duty-free business specifically serving the residents of Hainan Island. The duty-free shop serves Chinese citizens holding Hainan Province ID cards, residence permits, or social security cards; foreign nationals working and living in Hainan with valid residence permits; and personnel holding military identification documents stationed in Hainan (including military/police officer ID cards, military/police sergeant ID cards, civilian personnel ID cards, and conscript ID cards). 

To accurately address the needs of the people, the store focuses on high-frequency, essential goods that residents "can use, cannot live without, and frequently purchase". The policy specifies that eligible consumers can enjoy a tax-free allowance of 10,000 yuan per year, with no limit on the number of purchases. Furthermore, the product list will be dynamically adjusted and continuously optimized based on the actual consumption needs of residents on the island. 

The implementation of the zero-tariff policy for imported goods for consumption by residents of Hainan Island marks a significant breakthrough, enabling island residents to purchase imported daily consumer goods duty-free. This policy, organically linked to the offshore duty-free policy, further improves and perfects the zero-tariff system of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

A relevant official from the Sanya Municipal Bureau of Commerce stated that the establishment of duty-free shops for daily consumer goods is a vivid example of how the policy dividends of the Hainan Free Trade Port are being transformed into benefits for the people. Going forward, Sanya will continue to optimize policy implementation guarantees, support businesses in enriching their product categories and improving service quality, ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the policy, and truly enable residents of the island to purchase high-quality goods from around the world at affordable prices right at their doorstep.
